Why Do The Same 9 Friends Appear On Facebook

We've all had that puzzling moment, when the random high school classmate you haven't talked to in decades or coworker from four jobs ago you literally forgot existed appears in the friends box on your Facebook profile, and you wonder what are they doing there.
"Guys please help me here," posted one forum user. "Is the way that I see my friends' 9-boxes the same way they view it? And are the people I see in their 9-boxes the people they interact with privately/publicly? During the past few weeks I've been seeing that girl persistently on my boyfriend's 9-box. They never interact publicly, but she used to have a thing for him, so I'm scared."
The good thing is users now have a bit more control over which friends are featured on the page, and can influence it by giving Facebook feedback. Curating friend lists by labelling people "close friends," "family" and so on is a feature meant to give you more control over whose posts show up in your News Feed, but it's also bound to score those close friends better placement on your friend list. Conversely, categorizing someone as an "acquaintance" could make them less likely to appear in these featured slots. If you want to be super safe, you can go full on spy mode and create a fake account to do your stalking. Because make no mistake, Facebook is tracking that data.

According to Motherboard Facebook determines those nine friends based on 12 factors - your interactions with those individuals on Facebook, profile views, tagged photos, wall posts, likes, comments, viewed photos, private messages, mutual interactions, friends who are currently online, friends you've added to the "close friends" group and group chats. So it doesn't necessarily mean those people are stalking you and that's why they are being added to your top nine friends. It could mean that you've interacted with them through private messaging or by simply having a lot of mutual friends. Maybe that's why a bunch of random high school classmates will appear in one or two of those boxes. Although Facebook organizes the list for you, you ultimately have the power to create your top nine list by adding your closest friends to the "close friends" group.
Things to keep in mind when creating your message: Facebook only allows you to add 250 recipients to a single message. If you have more than 150 friends, you'll have to create multiple messages to reach everyone. If you have to create more than one message, you may want to compose your message in a different app, like the Notes app or Google Keep app, so you can easily paste it into multiple messages. If you want to reach all of your friends, you can type in a single vowel into the field and select the friends that pop up. You can do this for each subsequent vowel in the alphabet. Tap OK once you've selected all of the friends you\u2019ve chosen to message. At this point, you can finally start typing in your message. Tap the typing area at the bottom of the screen to open the keyboard and knock out your message. Once the message is finished, tap the Send button.\u00a0 Whenever you receive a response to the sent message, everyone within the group will see that response. To reach more than 250 people you\u2019ll have to repeat the steps outlined above or you can move further down and follow the process for creating a Facebook Group.", "url": " -message-facebook-messenger-all-friends/#step1" } ], "tool":[ ] } BODY .fancybox-container{z-index:200000}BODY .fancybox-is-open .fancybox-bg{opacity:0.87}BODY .fancybox-bg {background-color:#0f0f11}BODY .fancybox-thumbs {background-color:#ffffff} { "@context": " ", "@type": "BreadcrumbList", "itemListElement": [ { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 1, "item": { "@id": " -media/", "name": "Social Media" } } , { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 2, "item": { "@id": " -media/social-networks/", "name": "Networks" } } , { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 3, "item": { "@id": " -media/social-networks/facebook/", "name": "Facebook" } } ] } { "@context": " ", "@type": "Article", "mainEntityOfPage": { "@type": "WebPage", "@id": " -message-facebook-messenger-all-friends/" }, "headline": "How To Send a Message on Facebook Messenger to All of your Friends", "image": [ " -content/uploads/2019/06/facebook-group-messaging-img.png?resize=1024%2C768&ssl=1", " -content/uploads/2019/06/facebook-group-messaging-img.png?resize=1024%2C768&ssl=1", " -content/uploads/2019/06/facebook-group-messaging-img.png?resize=1024%2C720&ssl=1", " -content/uploads/2019/06/facebook-group-messaging-img.png?fit=1024%2C768&ssl=1", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screen-Shot-2020-07-21-at-9.19.03-AM.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-64.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-65.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-66.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-67.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-68.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-69.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-69.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screen-Shot-2020-07-21-at-10.10.00-AM.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screen-Shot-2020-07-21-at-10.11.11-AM.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screen-Shot-2020-07-21-at-10.11.50-AM.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-70.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-70.png", " -content/uploads/2020/07/Screen-Shot-2020-07-21-at-10.18.23-AM.png" ], "datePublished": "2019-07-01T00:00:00+00:00", "dateModified": "2022-10-09T03:42:37-06:00", "author": { "@type": "Person", "name": "Gregory" }, "publisher": { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Alphr", "logo": { "@type": "ImageObject", "url": " -content/themes/alphr/images/logo_new.svg" } }, "description": "On Facebook, the process of sending out a single message to multiple recipients is the same as sending a message to one person. On Facebook, the process of sending out a single message to multiple recipients is the same as sending a message to one person. Although Facebook limits how many recipients can receive your message (up to 250 members), you can create multiple group messages to reach everyone on your friends list.
Here, change the Who can see posts you're tagged in on your profile? to Only me, if you don't want tags to appear at all. You can also change the options under Reviewing to require your approval before tags appear to your friends.
To see who's on your Favorites list, visit the same Feed panel as above and choose Manage Favorites. This will show all your friends; click All at the top-right and change the box to Favorites Only to see who's on the list and easily remove people if needed.
Privacy settings in iOS and iPadOS help give you control over which apps have access to information stored on your device. For example, you can allow a social-networking app to use your camera, so you can take and upload pictures to that app. You can also grant access to your contacts, so a messaging app can find any friends that are already using the same app.
My husbands 1 year was May 3, 2018. We were foster parents for over 35 years. My daughter contacted as many of our friends and family as she could, asking them to video them sending a white balloon with a message to him. She made 1 video of all of them, it was beautiful especially since so many live around the world, or other states. Then that night on my facebook she posted a beautiful video in memory of him. I must of watched it 100 times over. Everyone loves it and wants to participate next year.
To identify friendships made in high school, we first use self-reports to assign individuals to schools. For people who do not report a high school, we use data on their friendship networks to impute those groups (see Supplementary Information A.3 for details). For the 3.3% of users who report multiple high schools, we select the school in which the user has the largest number of friends. This process produces information on high schools for 74.9% of individuals in our analysis sample. Finally, if an individual and one of their friends attended the same high school within three cohorts of each other, we identify them as high school friends. 2b1af7f3a8
