Now imagine if the faces behind the masks weren’t afraid to show us what they really thought and felt. Imagine if there were no masks. If the characters were allowed to reveal themselves, and their true, unvarnished nature. If we could look into the Witch Doctors’ eyes and see the pain, the struggle, the flaws, and the hope. The truth about the Witch Doctor would be ugly, and we would see them as they truly are. Then we would know why we love them.
The film's title is a reference to the Nekromantik, a neo-Gothic novel by Joseph von Eichendorff from 1857. The story follows Sam (Madison Iseman) who is haunted by an old family curse, a legacy that will consume her life. She begins to realize that she's being stalked by a psychic (Dagmar Lassander), which leads her into a series of bloody events. Her boyfriend, Charlie (Cameron Cowperthwaite), seems to have no idea what's going on. Turns out, he's not so different from her.
The narrator in this story is at a loss for words as he looks down at his mother's corpse, at her still living, breathing face. While he cannot say good bye, he silently confesses that he has the power to kill his mother, but he chooses not to. He does, however, wish to be buried next to her, just as he was buried next to her mother. I find this to be a very tragic declaration.
Necro is a hard film to watch, but it’s not half as difficult as it should be. Once you commit to it, you may find yourself incapable of looking away. Schmadtke, not surprisingly, is the best part of this movie, doing a great job of portraying the character. He is a man who yearns for the good old days before he was arrested, and is too sad to live through any more, and finds some measure of comfort in the company of the dead.
Rob is a young man working for his dad, who is the head of the funeral home. He's in a long-distance relationship with his girlfriend, who is currently away on a business trip, although she's older and of much higher social class. He is, as mentioned above, part of the new team of writers for this season and, to me, he felt the least authentically written. While I still felt the Necro acted the most like his character, the Necromancer of Coven season three, he felt this Necro was the least like the Necromancer of the show. Also, while his relationship with Betty feels realistic, he seems to have no connection with Charlie. 827ec27edc
